— About
Ideia Matriz — Arquitectura e Urbanismo, Lda. was established in May 2003 as a natural continuation of the practice of L.M. Costa Teixeira — Gabinete de Arquitectura e Estudos Urbanos, Lda., founded in 1987 and led by architect Luís Costa Teixeira.
Together the two studios have produced studies and projects for private and public clients across Portugal, from primary schools and university faculties to swimming pools, civic markets and regional administrative centres. The work is guided by a single concern: the search for solutions that hold rigour, aesthetic quality and the social function of architecture in equilibrium.
Selected partners include Câmara Municipal de Cascais, Câmara Municipal de Sintra, Universidade do Porto, Instituto Politécnico de Beja and the Government of Maranhão.
